In my first post I want to start with one of my favorites, which is red lip color. Red lippies is pretty essential to my life. Not only that red lips screams confidence, I think it’s definitely the sexiest color. There’s some kind of theory about the “correct” shade of red depending on your skin tone. Fair skin tone should lean towards a blue-based red, medium skin tone should wear an orange or a pinkish based red, and darker skin tone should go for darker shades. Well.. it’s a great general rule but I feel like makeup has no limits and in my opinion anyone can do whatever color they want as long as they are confident with it. Anyone can rock ANY RED! But If I can give you any tips, just balance it out with the right makeup you put on your face and of course, be confident.
Now the question is how do you find your perfect red lip color?
Well.. the best way is to try it yourselves. Yes, it’s a long ride of trial and error but BE PATIENT, it will be worth it. With hundreds of shades out there, I suggest you ask for recommendations from makeup specialists in stores or you can go online and see swatches on people who has (at least almost) the same skin tone as you are. In my experience, it helps a lot. So today, I’m sharing with you 3 of my all time favorite red lip colors !
Tom Ford Lip Color in Crimson Noir
Crimson noir is a red with a hint of pink; it’s sheer on one swipe but you can build it up for a deeper red lip that is shiny and hydrated. Its classy and sophisticated!
Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red no 1
THIS ONE IS BOMB. It’s my favorite from ALL the reds I have in my collection. It’s a classic true red. It’s bright, bold, and it looks great on all my friends with a variety of skin tones. It applies so evenly and it dries to a solid matte finish. But since it is a liquid lipstick and almost all liquid lipsticks dry out my lips, I always exfoliate and put lip balm for a good hour before putting this one on.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Unicorn Blood
First of all, lets talk about the formulation of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick. ITS ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE TRIED SO FAR. A little too “liquidy” at first, so I was not impressed. But after trying it several times, I fell in love it with it. Unicorn blood is a deep blood red with a brownish undertone. I love how vampy it looks whilst still being very wearable. It doesn’t dry out my lips, the pigmentation & staying power is bomb, the consistency is thin and feels weightless on my lips. Also, if you’re an advocate for animal rights, you are safe to shop this range!
Till next time,
